Shikanjvi (Punjabi Spiced Lemonade)

Shikanjvi is a type of traditional limeade or lemonade from the Punjab region of South Asia. While the base ingredients include lemon or lime juice, ginger juice, ice and water, shikanjvi often contains other ingredients such as salt, saffron, mint, rosewater, or cumin.

Ingredients

• Cold water
• 2 lemons, juiced
• 1 small chunk of ginger
• 1–2 teaspoons sugar (raw if possible)
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

1. Pour the water into a glass.
2. Add the lemon juice, ginger, sugar, salt and pepper, then shake it vigorously.
3. Serve cold.
