Lemon-Lime Soda I
Lemon-lime soda is a carbonated beverage flavored similarly to lemon- and limeade. This recipe originates from Flavorlab.
Ingredients
- 2 whole lemons, washed
- 4 whole limes, washed
- ½ cup (120 ml) white sugar
- 4 tsp (20 ml) lime juice
- Carbonated water, as needed
Instructions
- Remove the zest from the lemons and limes in strips, leaving behind the bitter white pith.
- Combine the sugar and zest in a container, and let this sit in the fridge for 24 hours. The sugar will extract the liquid from the citrus peels and produce a syrupy liquid.
- Strain the solids out of the peel and sugar mixture.
- Mix the peel and sugar mixture with lime juice. This should produce slightly under ½ cup (120 ml) of syrup.
- To make the finished soda, mix 1 volume of syrup with 5 volumes of carbonated water.
