Ginger Ale
Ginger ale is a spicy and sweet soda flavored primarily—as the name indicates—with ginger. This recipe also incorporates lime juice. This recipe originates from one at Simply Recipes.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (240 ml) water
- ½ cup (120 ml) fresh or frozen ginger in ½ in (1.25 cm) dice
- ½ cup (120 ml) water
- ½ cup (120 ml) white sugar
- 1½ tsp (7.5 ml) lime juice
- Carbonated water as needed
Instructions
- Combine the 1 cup (240 mL) water with the ginger in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then remove from the heat and strain the liquid.
- Combine the ½ cup (120 ml) water with the sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, and simmer until reduced to about 5 oz (150 ml). Remove from the heat.
- Combine the ginger liquid, the syrup, and the lime juice.
- To make the finished soda, combine 1 volume of ginger syrup with 1 volume of carbonated water.
