Confederate Cush

Confederate cush is a dish that became popular among the armies of the South during the American Civil War, since it used ingredients that many Southerners had on hand.

Instructions

  1. Put bacon into a hot iron skillet, and fry the grease out of it.
  2. Add the beef, then slowly add 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil.
  3. Add cornmeal mush and stir until dry.
  4. Remove skillet from fire, and let cool.
  5. Serve warm, like hash.
